I would respect Scopely for trying something new and failing rather than running the same slop out there. Show some gumption, folks! Even if they had to do an unranked interlude season, it would be better than this lot.
Oh, wow. I actually have a Bellibolt built for UL - I ran it in a weird double electric team. It was a lot of fun as a silly spice pick, sort’ve sad to see it at the top now.
I’ve probably said this before: Catch Cup is in theory a fun idea to help out new players. The reality is that experienced players rebuild meta Pokemon to get whatever edge possible. Didn’t they kill Catch Cup before? To much fanfare?
I thought the splitting of the formats was weird as well. Perhaps they want to give people a chance to climb in any of the formats? ie if Sunshine Cup is your meta, it’s fairly useless having it first up & then not again. I’m speculating though!
Scopely officially taken over now, huh? Sad. If I play at all it will be the Fossil Cup & Element Little Cup, just for nostalgia.
Speaking of S6P3, I took part in a 16 person LC tournament yesterday (Blissey, Chansey, Wobbuffet, Shuckle & Bronzor were banned). It was so much fun! I hope for your sake they consider introducing it in regular GBL.
I really, really don't understand the devotion to Catch Cup. By now, they should understand that this is what it turns into: people just committing to expensive rebuilds. No one likes it. No one sane, anyhow. The splitting of the metas could make sense for the reason you've proposed, though if it just brings back a subpar meta, then it's a double whammy as opposed to a chance to climb or time for redemption.
An S6P3 Little Cup tournament sounds fantastic, actually. If nothing else, my losses would be over quickly. 😅
Yeah, I do agree. By 2 weeks of a cup, it’s either been solved or it has devolved. Give me 1 week cups, give me something new. I didn’t like it but at least this season they tried something with Scroll Cup. I liked your turn of phrase though, “Impotent Rage City” - it feels like this is the way things are and it won’t change.
