I keep seeing people on Twitter wonder aloud with every bad decision Niantic makes whether they actively hate their player base/enjoy screwing with them. It's things like these rollbacks which lend credence to this notion. Another analogy which randomly came to me is Lucy pulling away the football when Charlie Brown goes to kick it. That's Niantic and Pokémon GO players in a nutshell.
The Incense day on Sunday was probably my favourite event of the season, and I only played 2 (steel) hours. But those hours were great as I was excited about (almost) all the spawns!
Feeling like you’ve got a choice with when to play makes it a lot more enjoyable. I never played the full 6hrs of a Com Day, but I would have dipped in multiple times over the course of the 6 hrs. It’s a lot less fun being restricted to 3hrs, there’s no real option to take a long break in between.
I think that's the big concern for me re Community Days now: a sense of anxiety. I basically push myself to play through and end up tiring myself out and getting dehydrated. It would be better if we could choose a three-hour block, but Niantic seems allergic to the concept of player choice.
Seriously at six hours I'd maybe accidentally run into it but at three hours I'm almost definitely missing it haha. Mall analogy is a great example!

I definitely feel that anxiety! I’d struggle to play 3hrs straight, so I have to embrace that I maybe won’t get everything I’d like.
It didn’t have to be like this though, I wish I understood the reasoning.
Well written again!😊
Thanks, Mom! 🫡
